In Groot-Brittannië is de Red House Children´s Book Award 2009 toegekend aan Sophie McKenzie voor haar boek Blood Ties.
Overall winner
Het boek Blood Ties won in de categorie ‘oudere lezers’ en werd daarnaast de overall winner. In de categorie ‘jonge kinderen’ ging de prijs naar Allan Ahlberg en Bruce Ingman voor The Pencil. In de categorie ‘jongere lezers‘ ging de prijs naar Kes Gray voor Daisy and the Trouble with Zoos.
The Red House Awards werden dit jaar voor de 29e keer uitgereikt. Eerdere winnaars waren onder anderen Roald Dahl (1983), Jacqueline Wilson (1996) en J.K. Rowling (1998).

Het boek is nog niet in het Nederlands vertaald. Maar ik heb de volgende Engelse tekst kunnen vinden, waar het boek over gaat: When Theo discovers the father he thought died when he was a baby is still alive, he’s determined to find him. The clues lead him to the lonely Rachel, who has problems of her own, including parents who compare her unfavourably to her long-dead sister.
